Printable versionHello, my name is Tyler.
I'm part web designer, part computer programmer, and I love what I do. This is my portfolio and blog. Welcome.I have a passion for creating elegant, effective websites that are easy to use. My approach to web design is to keep everything as simple and intuitive as possible, to ensure the highest quality user experience. In everything I do, I use only the latest standards and technology.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa where I received a Bachelor of Science in Information & Computer Science. While in school, I studied design theory, human-computer interaction, web development, and software engineering. In the Spring of 2008 I studied web design at Roehampton University in London. Over the years I have become proficient in many languages, though I have the most experience programming in Java.
I like to blog about music, web design, and other things that interest me. Eventually, my goal is to make a series of podcasts featuring mixes of some of my favorite music.
Currently, I am the lead web designer for E-telligents, an Electronic Health Record software vendor based in Honolulu. I design and implement the user interface for their web-based EHR application. In addition, I help develop the back-end system, working with technologies such as Java, Wicket, MySQL, and Hibernate.
When I have free time, I enjoy doing freelance web design (sometimes for Heyday Graphics and Promotions). You can see some of my latest work on the projects page. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or need some web design!
