I haven’t done a music post in a long time but I just found the most amazing album preview! – Aeroplane’s ‘We Can’t Fly’. Every song soars. The official release date is set for September 27, 2010.

The new album from CFCF has two remixes of songs I’ve always dreamed were re-done – Voyager by Alan Parsons and Big Love by Fleetwood Mac. The remixes are laid back just like the rest of the album, and they’ve got a really cool vibe to them. I still can’t believe these songs are both on this album. Premium.

This Must Be it Video

‘This must be it’ is one of my favorite tracks of Royksopp’s latest album Junior. It’s fast paced and Karin Dreijer Andersson from Fever Ray/The Knife sings like a dream on it. The video for the song, which just came out today, has a bunch of half-naked people living in nature and has another nature man driving a vehicle of drums. Its pretty out there. Also, check out this weird audition from the drummer man in the video. His name is Runar and he doesn’t like electronic music.

I didn’t want to do a ‘Song of the Week’ type thing, but seeing as I keep having problems getting a proper mixer, I am not able to make any podcasts how I’d like to. So here are some songz for the time being…

Boys Noize

Boys Noize just released a promotional copy of his new album ‘Power’ and I’ve been listening to it a bunch this past week. In my opinion most of it is not very special, but there is one track that I really dig. It’s a real low-fi, late night kind of track.

Turzi’s new album ‘B’ (which is not even out yet) has 10 tracks, all with names starting with the letter B. Kind of a weird concept for kind of a weird band. I saw them live once in London and I just remember being blasted by a lot of analog noise. A lot of music is not so good but one of their new songs, ‘Buenoas Aires’, is a pretty cool track.

Midnight Special

Now this is what I have really been listening to (watching) this week. My roommates and I have been scouring youtube for clips of the Midnight Special show from back in the 70′s. All the classic players seemed to have performed on this show – Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, ELO, Journey, ABBA, Frampton, etc. I sort of wish I had the DVD set from the TV infomercial. Anyhow, I never heard of this band before but I am hooked on this song.

Don’t you just love how the chorus is more mellow than the verse?

With a French sensibility and a hint of Dutch-ness, they get the best of both worlds in Belgium. The music that comes out of that country is hands-down some of the freshest and smoothest stuff ever. Bands like Soulwax have blown up around the world for their finely crafted sound and amazing live show. Aeroplane, a duo also from Belgium is no exception. Their music has a flavor totally unique in todays electronic music scene. Its lush and subtle and does not blow out your ear drums when you listen to it. Have a listen!

Singles

‘Caramellas’ is from Aeroplane’s first ever 12″ release back in 2007. Its a smooth, kick-back sort of track. ‘Above the Clouds’ is my personal favorite. Just listen to the first few seconds and you’ll know why.

Remixes

Aeroplane is a remix machine and their remix of Sebastien Tellier’s Kilometer is just mad. Its definitely one of the best remixes of the year – Long live Italo. The Grace Jones remix is such a deep track that is perfect for chilling out to. Every time I listen to it, I like it a little bit more. The last track by David Rubato is a killer. It really gets kicking around 1:40. Aeroplane also just did a remix for a Lindstrøm track, but surprisingly it does not compare to these at all.
